Level Playing Field Gaming

Level Playing Field is a podcast where a group of long-time friends come together once a week to talk about the world of video games. The podcast has five main members: Andrew Kimball, the host, and his co-hosts Dylan Wren, Joe Sommer, Caleb Van Nice, and Aubrey Kimball. Andrew is currently pursuing a degree in computer science at USM through online courses, and Caleb attended the Gulf Coast campus where he graduated with a degree in film. This cast of characters each bring their own unique tastes and preferences to the conversations each week.

The weekly podcast usually follows one of three formats. The first is a topic format where the LPF crew discusses such things as gaming franchises they want back from the dead, their top games of the generation, indie games, or even their personal gamer personalities based on quanticfoundry.com, a site devoted to the science of gamer motivation. The second format is a recap of what they have been playing over the past month, where the hosts have a chance to talk about games that might not fit in a particular topic. And finally, the third format is the spoilercast. This format is exactly what it sounds like. The crew spends an entire episode diving deep into one game to pick it apart and discuss what they liked or did not like about it. LPF has covered such games as Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Spiritfarer, and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order just to name a few, with many more to come! At the end of the show, each episode wraps up with some sort of fun trivia game facilitated by one of the hosts.
